BBFA x Tackle This Together

We've teamed up with 'Tackle This Together' to bring mental health awareness and training courses to our members.

Berks & Bucks FA have partnered with 'Tackle This Together' to offer mental health courses for our members.

Over the coming months, our partnership will provide Bucks & Bucks FA affiliated clubs with the opportunity to participate in the Tackle This Together courses; Mental Health Awareness and Mental Health First Aid. We will also be working together to run workshops and activations within their association to support football clubs who are looking to implement more mental health awareness, education, support and conversation within their community.

To launch the partnership all Bucks & Berks FA affiliated clubs will be invited to attend Mental Health Awareness courses (Adult & Youth) that are running in January, with a 50% discount applied to the cost of the course. Our mental health awareness course is ideal for managers and coaches and is designed for participants who work with adult and youth age groups and wish to be trained and aware of mental health and wellbeing when working with their players and footballing community.

Tackle This Together's mission is built on our four key pillars; to raise awareness, increase the conversation, deliver education and provide support for mental health and wellbeing within grassroots football and sport. They aim to assist all 17,000 grassroots clubs in implementing at least one Mental Health First Aider or Mental health Aware trained coaches into their community. As well as creating important conversations, the Tackle This Together platform allows clubs to book and participate in Mental Health First Aid courses with ease.

Hans Cook, Berks & Bucks FA, Business Support Administrator, said: "As soon as I connected with Ross, it was clear that we shared a similar drive and passion to raise awareness of Mental Health within Grassroots Football, and so it made sense for us to partner together to keep the conversation going.

"As an Organisation, we are aware of our responsibility to govern the game and make sure all 80,000 of our participants feel seen, valued, and supported, and this partnership will help achieve this across our county area. The Mental Health Awareness courses which are specific to Football environments is a brilliant initiative, which Ross has worked directly with Mental Health First Aid England to create, and I would highly recommend our clubs taking up this opportunity.

"This is just the start and I’m excited to see the positive impact our partnership can have as we ‘Tackle This Together’."
