BBFA Wildcats are off to Wembley!
Abingdon Youth & George Green Juniors SSE Wildcats centres have been chosen by the FA to take part in a Wildcats parade at Wembley. This will take place at half-time during the SSE Womens FA Cup Final in May.
County FA’s were asked to put forward existing centres who have done an exceptional job on and off the field over the past couple of seasons to support the programme. Both clubs have been provided with tickets for parents and players so it should be a great experience for all involved.
Both clubs have worked really hard over the past couple of seasons and have seen plenty of success on and off the field. George Green Juniors have grown in numbers and supported us with monthly introductory festivals in Slough, which last month had over 100 girls taking part. Abingdon Youth have also been hard at work and have built a great partnership with Abingdon United Womens FC which has provided the girls with great role models for the future.
Steven Hale from George Green Juniors can’t wait for the experience: “When I read the email I was overcome with emotion knowing how proud I am of the people who helped us achieve this incredible journey. When I started George Green Juniors FC, it was always our intention as a club to have a girls section and Wildcats helped us achieve that goal. I can imagine the smiles on their faces as they walk around the pitch. A very proud moment!”
In addition to this, Parkhouse School Wildcats in Newbury will be joining Abingdon Youth and George Green Juniors at Wembley after receiving a special invitation from Liv Cooke, World Champion FreeStyler. The centre was invited to attend after taking part in a pre Semi-Final event in the build up to Reading FC Women's game against West Ham.
We have over 45 SSE Wildcats centres launching across Berks & Bucks this April so to find your nearest one, please visit our dedicated Wildcats page. Likewise, if you want to join all three clubs at Wembley for the Womens FA Cup Final then visit the FA’s ticketing site.
