Retain The Game Fund launched to support Adult Male 11v11 Football
New for 2018, the Retain the Game fund looks to help support existing teams where the current club structure requires financial support to continue.
The six week application period opens today (Wednesday 18th April) and will be open until 30th May 2018. To apply, clubs are required to meet the following criteria:
- FA Charter Standard Adult Clubs with two or more adult provisions (U17, U18, U21, open-aged & veterans).
- Adult teams within FA Charter Standard Youth/Development/Community Clubs
- Adult clubs with two or more adult male teams, that commit and achieve Charter Standard Status by January 2019
(Please see below for information regarding alternative funding options for clubs with one adult male 11v11 team)
The reason behind the Charter Standard Criteria is because FA Research has demonstrated that Adult Charter Standard Clubs and Leagues are more sustainable and attract additional teams, players and volunteers.
To help reverse this decline, the FA will give successful applicants £750 which can be put towards various club running costs, as follows:
- Pitch or training hire
- Playing kit
- First aid courses
- First aid equipment
