Celebrating your 2020 Grassroots Football Heroes

Join us on Thursday 6th August at 7:45pm for a 'virtual' awards ceremony as we celebrate your Grassroots Football Heroes across Berks & Bucks.

Join us on Thursday 6th August at 7:45pm for a 'virtual' awards ceremony as we celebrate your Grassroots Football Heroes across Berks & Bucks.

For over 10 years, the FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards have recognised and celebrated leagues, clubs, coaches, players, match officials and volunteers that go over and above when it comes to football in their local communities.

The coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately meant we aren't able to host a physical awards ceremony as we have done in prevous years, however we still recognise the importance of acknowledging the fantastic achievements of our grassroots community and want to be able to celebrate with, and say thank to, those clubs and individuals who go the extra mile to make grassroots football in our county the best it can be.

This year, we'll be marking the occasion with an online ceremony held on Microsoft Teams. One of the benefits of an online ceremony of course is that for those nominated they will be able to share the evening with club members, families and friends, all of whom will be able to register to 'attend' the ceremony.

The event will last approximately one hour where winners from each of the nine categories (listed below) will be announced live on the night.

Award Categories

- Grassroots Coach of the Year for Adults

- Grassroots Coach of the Year for Youth

- Grassroots Grounds Team of the Year

- Grassroots Club of the Year

- Grassroots Volunteer of the Year

- Rising Star of the Year

- Grassroots Project of the Year

- Grassroots Match Official of the Year

- Grassroots League of the Year

Judging the process this year, as it is every year, was incredibly tough with 142 nominations submitted in Berks & Bucks across all categories. We we would like to thank our panel (David Grainge, BBFA Chairman, Kulbir Brah BEM, BBFA Non-Executive Director for Inclusion, Kelly Hawkins BBFA Council & North Bucks & District League Secretary, Mark Rivers, FA & BBFA County Coach Developer and Steph Clark, BBFA Communications Officer) for completing the very difficult task of shortlisting our finalists in exceptional circumstances.

Finalists

Over the coming days, all shortlisted finalists for our awards will receive an email to let them know they have been nominated and to invite them to this years ceremony. Finalists will be encouraged to share the good news on social media with their members, families and friends using the hashtag #BBFAAwards to spread the word in the build up to the ceremony.

Hosted on Microsoft Teams, a registration form for people to join the ceremony live on the night will be available in the coming days. Closer to the event, people who have registered will receive information on how to join on the night and other key details will be provided.

Please note access to Microsoft can be gained via internet web browser, landline or mobile phone and does not require an account.
