Walking Football is a format of the game aimed at encouraging more adults over 50 to play football regularly. Whether you're completely new to the game or want to play the same technical version of the game at a slower pace - then this could be the format for you!
Walking Football comprises of the same rules as standard football, except players are not permitted to run. As a result, the game relies less on physical attributes such as; speed, power and stamina, and more on accurate passing, good positional play, and strong tactical knowledge as opposed to speed and power.
We're always interested in new innovative ideas that encourage individuals to regularly participate in football. This particular format engages an age group that isn’t normally associated with playing the game, but with people living longer and continuing to stay active we'd like to give people the opportunity to re-kindle their playing days, or have a go at something new!
Very few team sports are tailored for older adults meaning they miss out on the social and health benefits associated with physical activity. We want to change this. Over the upcoming months we will be introducing a number of Walking Football across our area:
