Welcome Hans

Welcome, Hans!

Hans Cook joins the Berks & Bucks FA team as Business Support Administrator

Hans joins Berks & Bucks FA as our Business Support Administrator and will be responsible for supporting CEO Liz Verrall and the staff with administrative tasks across areas including Finance, Process Management, HR, Office Management and Communications.

Hans has a scientific background, having graduated with a master’s degree in Chemistry for Drug Discovery from the University of Bath in 2016, which included a year in the drug development labs at GlaxoSmithKline. This was followed by Research at the University of Warwick, however after 6 years studying and working within the labs, Hans moved on as he wanted a career in which he was able to maximise time spent meeting, collaborating, and engaging with people.

This led him to Cancer Research UK, where he worked for 3 years in Supporter Engagement, initially in Supporter Services before playing a key role in the foundation of a new Operational Support Team as the charity looked to adapt and bounce back from the COVID-19 Pandemic. Operational Support allowed Hans to combine his experience of data and processes, with his passion for people and making a difference for a cause.

Alongside his career, football has always been a passion for Hans, loving the game for has long as he can remember. So, when the opportunity came up for Business Support Administrator at BBFA he felt it was the perfect fit.

On his appointment, Hans said: "I am grateful to have an opportunity to join the Berks & Bucks FA and to immerse myself in a career within the beautiful game which can be such a force for positive change, both nationally and within local communities. I hope to bring my experience of Business Support within the charity sector into the BBFA, aiming to make Operations more efficient and effective. I see my job as an opportunity to make the lives of all BBFA members, staff & directors easier so that they can enjoy what they do and maximise impact!

“I have personal experience of the friendships and memories football creates, and they have really helped me through my own tough times. Therefore, if I can play just a small part in allowing others to feel the same then that will be so rewarding, and I feel that the BBFA offers me the chance to do just that"

When Hans isn’t looking at Data or Football, he will probably be found preparing or drinking coffee, as he is a self-taught home barista and huge fan of the speciality coffee industry.
