Matchday App

FA join forces with PayPal

Grassroots players across the country can now make sure they never miss paying their match fees, as we join forces with PayPal.

There’ll be no more rooting for coins in the bottom of your bag or glove compartment, as over a million players can now use our Matchday app to help further transform how managers, players and parents can pay their match fees and annual subs.

We estimate that grassroots clubs miss out on millions of pounds of uncollected fees every season, as clubs’ reliance on cash and even old-fashioned cheques means many suffer from late or missing payments.

And by digitising payments through the Matchday app with PayPal so players can pay in a quick, simple and secure way via their phones, it will simplify the collection and tracking of money for people who manage grassroots football teams and lead to more time running their teams.

Grassroots captain Scott Murphy admits it will revolutionise the way he spends his Sunday mornings.

"It’s brilliant now, because with my Sunday team, half of them turn up with no cash on them,” revealed Murphy, who also plays for Epsom & Ewell in the Combined Counties League.

“People have always got an excuse for not being able to pay, so if you can pay for it like this, it means they've got no excuse."

The PayPal partnership is just the latest upgrade to our Matchday app, which has been developed to reduce the time and effort needed to run a grassroots football team.

It already allows club secretaries, managers and coaches to organise matches and training, select their line-ups and instantly give updates to their team.

Players can share their availability, view all future fixtures and keep an eye on the tables and results.

Along with the FA Matchday app, the partnership will see the two organisations collaborate on further initiatives to support grassroots football.
