South East Regional 11v11 Disability Competition

A recap of all the action on the day as teams from Berks & Bucks competed in the competition

On Sunday 4th November teams from Berks and Bucks FA, Northampton FA and Surrey FA competed in the First Round of the South East Regional 11v11 Disability Competition at Slough Town’s Arbour Park. The event organised by Berks & Bucks FA saw Slough Town PALS, MK Dons, Northampton Town, Hampton & Richmond FC and Wizard & Eagles Combined XI battle it out to win one of the two qualifying spots on offer for the next round.

This is the fifth edition of the South East Regional 11v11 Disability Competition which is organised in a combined effort by each of the South East Regional County FA’s. Five separate First Round events will take place across the region with ten teams in total advancing to two regional Semi-Finals scheduled for early 2018. The finals are planned to take place in May 2019 with only four teams advancing to this stage.

Success on the day went to Northampton Town and Wizards & Eagles Combined XI who finished as group winners and group runners up respectively. The event was the tightest of affairs with four teams tied for top spot only to be separated by Goal Difference. The top two will now advance to separate semi-finals and can only meet again at the Finals.

Jonathan Coles, Disability Football Development Officer at Berks & Bucks FA, went on to say; “It was a thoroughly enjoyable event to witness. Going into the last game a number of teams could still qualify and it was only a last minute goal that took the Wizards & Eagles Combined XI through to the next round.

"All the teams can be proud of their performance and I look forward to the next round. A big thank you to all those at Slough Borough Council and Slough Town FC for making this a great event.”
