Welcome to BBFA Juniors

BBFA Juniors is a safeguarding and respect initiative from Berks & Bucks FA which aims to educate and raise awareness among young children and adults of some of the key safeguarding issues that can arise in youth football and to help promote The FA’s youth RESPECT programme; ‘We Only Do Positive’.

To help achieve this, we have devised a programme that will allow us to communicate these important messages in a fun and relatable way for children whilst also providing information and guidance to parents/guardians, coaches, and other adults involved in youth football.

Introducing BB & Faye

BBFA Juniors is a cartoon football team brought to life in comic strip format. The team’s joint Captains and best friends, BB & Faye, will help you navigate the team's journey, following along as they experience key moments throughout the season.

Six individual comic strips share their experiences of their first training session of the year and meeting a new Coach, their first game, and more. We will join them in training sessions and on match days and see how the team deals with some common situations and scenarios that can arise in youth football.

Best friends, BB & Faye

Each of the comic strips aims to highlight and bring focus to situations and challenges that can occur in youth football. They will show how young members of the team handle these situations and the steps they, and the adults around them can take to help them deal with or overcome them.

Although the overall aim of the initiative is to educate and raise awareness, we also want it to be as fun and engaging as possible and to spark conversations about safeguarding and respect.

How it works

Across the course of the season, starting in September a combination of six comic strips and six activity sheets will be sent out on alternate months via email.

Each email will feature a message/update from our Designated Safeguarding Officer who will introduce that month's comic/activity and provide a general update on safeguarding within the game.

Each comic will feature the BBFA Juniors team experiencing a different situation or scenario and each activity sheet will include engaging tasks for children such as word searches and colouring challenges. They will also provide opportunities to win prizes throughout the course of the season.

At the start of the season, an email introducing the initiative was sent to all eligible teams/clubs (U9-U7 teams) inviting them to sign up and encouraging them to share the news with their players' parents/guardians.

Don't worry if you missed that initial email, parents/guardians of young people in the game can also sign up to join the BBFA Juniors directly by subscribing to our newsletter where there is an option to receive BBFA Juniors updates, specifically.
