BERKSHIRE SCHOOLS’ FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION – Volunteers Wanted

Berkshire Schools’ FA, an affiliated member of the English Schools’ FA, organises, in conjunction with nine affiliated District Associations, inter-school competitions and representative opportunities for pupils. These are summarised as follows:-

PRIMARY The county organises four county wide inter-school competitions – Under 9 and Under 11 ( Boys and Girls ). Each starts with mini-leagues leading to cup competitions. Local district associations also organise their own internal local inter-school competitions and festivals. Three of the districts, Newbury, Slough, and Wokingham currently run representative teams for both boys and girls, and provide a programme of inter-district matches throughout the south of England.

SECONDARY The county organises a full programme of county wide inter-school competitions – 15 in all. Four county representative teams – Under 14 and Under 16 ( Boys and Girls ) – are provided, each playing ideally between 6 and 8 inter-county matches per season in regional and national competitions. Once again, local inter-school competitions are provided by the districts, but the only district representative team currently in the county is in Slough at Under 13 level.

Berkshire SFA invites applications for a part -time funded post within the Association, commencing on 1st September. The successful applicant will be administering some aspects of the county programme, taking an average of around 6 - 8 hours per week, although there must be flexibility from week to week., including staffing some county events during the evening.

Please contact David Lailey via email (mjlailey@btinternet.com) or on 01256 881517 to register interest and seek any further information. The closing date for applications is Monday 7th August.

Thatcham Town Harriers FC - Volunteers Wanted

Thatcham Town Harriers FC is looking for any locals who may be able to help the grassroots football club fulfil its vacant voluntary Head Treasure role. A statement from the Harriers further describes the role and its current status:

Unfortunately, we’ve had no volunteers for the Treasurer role. A discussion point at the AGM was whether this could be broken down into smaller roles. The role could be split in two as follows should anyone be interested in supporting the club.

Treasurer:

- Yearly budget projections.
- Reviewing and setting membership fees.
- Tracking membership payments.
- Reviewing and payment of expenses and invoices.
- Producing yearly accounts for our FA affiliation and AGM.
- Pitchero and Google Suite admin.
- The Treasurer role typically takes one hour each week.

Player Registration Officer:

- Updating Pitchero teams at season change.
- Creation of membership products and assigning to players.
- Updating payment documentation and helping parents with the payment process.
- Supporting Team managers with player registration in the FA Whole Game System.
- The Player registration officer is involved around season changeover. The initial season admin takes two to three hours and ongoing support of about 1 hour a week until the season starts.

How can you help?

If you are interested in either of these roles (or could do both) please contact treasurer@thatchamtownharriers.club or Pete via peterfisher77@gmail.com. The role doesn’t need to be filled by someone currently with the club. Please share with anyone you think may be interested in taking a volunteer role (for example at work).
