Prayers on pitch, Slough Town Iftar March 2024

200 attend Iftar event held in Slough

Attendees at this sold-out community enjoyed a unique blend of sports, spirituality and community.

More than 200 young people and adults came together at Arbour Park in Slough at the end of March to enjoy an Iftar event hosted in collarboration with Berks & Bucks FA, JMIC Mosque Slough and Slough Town FC Community Trust.

Young attendees at this sold out community event enjoyed a day of tournament football before all came together for food, prayers on the pitch and more in this unique blend of sports, spirituality and community.

On the day, we were also joined by Abdoullah Kheir, Coach Development Officer (Diversity & Inclusion) for England Football who delivered a talk about the opportunities in football for people from the Muslim community within Slough and how they could get involved.

Callum Salhotra, Community & Inclusion Manager at Berks & Bucks FA said, "It was heart warming to see members of the community come together to celebrate this special occasion. The atmosphere was fantastic and having over 200 people attend was a real achievement. The positive feedback we received from attendees speaks volumes about the impact of our collaboration with JMIC & Slough Town FC whose dedication and commitment to the event was evident and we are grateful to both for their partnership.

"Looking ahead, I am optimistic and excited about the potential to work together on future projects to help use the power of football to make a difference in lives of people within our local communities."

Adrian Gomm, Community Manager at Slough Town FC, said: "The event was a huge success. To see so many people come and enjoy the occasion was fantastic to see and it showed that there is a real community spirit in the town.

"It was a real pleasure to work alongside so many amazing organisations - I am sure that we will work together again and we're really looking forward to forming a lasting partnership."
