Max Pollard

Introducing our Football Investigations Officer, Max Pollard

Boxing Day 1997, Luton Town 2-2 Northampton Town on a very wet winter day, the first football game I ever attended at just 5 years of age and it’s fair to say, I have absolutely loved the game ever since.  Unfortunately, my playing ability never really matched my passion and enthusiasm, one highlight from my not-so illustrious career as a centre-forward was a hat-trick for Deanshanger Colts Under 11s in a 4-3 victory against rivals Brackley.  It was only a friendly but I insisted that my goals were included in the end of season tally, a career best of 13.

I arrive at the Berks & Bucks FA after spending 3 very enjoyable years working as an Advertising Salesman at the Newsquest Media Group. I moved to Oxford 3 years ago from Milton Keynes, where I had previously spent my whole life and have called Oxfordshire home ever since. Working in the football industry has always appeared as more of a pipedream than a possibility, but when I saw the vacancy those closest to me said they would struggle to forgive me if I didn’t at least apply for the role.  I submitted an application and everything worked out for the absolute best as I now sit here in my new role of Football Investigations Officer!

Other than playing, I have a years’ experience of coaching/managing a youth football team, the Oxford Blackbirds Athletic Under 7s which I really enjoyed and have some really great memories from, we also didn’t lose a single game until our end-of-season league finale!

Away from the office, I’m a Luton Town fan and am at my happiest when I’m at Kenilworth Road cheering on the Hatters! I do also have a soft-spot for Arsenal who I’ll always follow with a keen-eye. In my spare time, I enjoy days out anywhere and everywhere with my girlfriend who I live with in Abingdon, spending time with my family back home in Milton Keynes, hanging around with my friends, which normally involves watching/discussing/debating football in some capacity! All of the aforementioned have given me huge support over the years and that’s helped me along the way massively. Other than football, I am half-way through an Open University Open Degree, which has so far included English Language and Creative Writing. I also love long walks, trips to a nice pub, watching the tennis, playing table tennis, going to the theatre, as well as a good bit of television and music.
