In spring 2021 a new Introduction to Coaching Football course is being launched to replace the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football qualification.
This will be an online course designed to provide learners with an introduction to coaching the game. The course will be complemented by practical and face to face learning experiences delivered locally as part of our ongoing coach development offer.

Before enrolling on the new Introduction to Coaching Football qualification, you need to complete the FA Playmaker course, supported by BT. This is a free online entry-level course and you don’t need any previous football experience or qualifications before signing up. All you need is an FA account and a laptop, tablet or mobile device and you’re good to go. The course can be completed in your own time and at your own pace. Sign up to FA Playmaker today and complete the course, then you’ll be ready to go when the new Introduction to Coaching Football course launches.
If you are already an FA Playmaker there are lots of opportunities to continue learning while you wait for the new course to launch.

Course Pre-requisites
In order to begin The FA Introduction to Coaching Football, you must already have completed The FA Playmaker.
Outcomes
The FA Playmaker supported by BT is our new, free online entry-level football course perfect for anyone interested in taking a more active role in grassroots football.
There are five modules in total and you don’t need any previous football experience or qualifications before signing up.
In fact, all you need is an FA Number (FAN) and a laptop, tablet or mobile device. Then you’re good to go.

Please also note; when signing up to one of our courses, please include relevant medical information in the 'sign up note' box.
Additionally, if you are a coach with a Charter Standard club please include the name of your club in this box and use the code "BBFAL1CS" to apply the discount. Please be aware that if you are a Charter Standard coach but sign up without the discount, there is no refund available.
No, learners are required to attend all dates and times associated to the course they have booked onto. Failure to attend all dates and times will result in non-qualification and individuals are required to book and pay to attend the course again in full to become certified.
Unfortunately the Level 1 course price is a set amount. If your Safeguarding Children and First Aid qualifications are completed and showing on your FAN, you do not need to attend these dates of the Level 1 course, however you will not be able get a discount/refund.
Yes, you are still able to access and complete the Level 1 online modules through the FA Learning site
We will be contacting all Learners who have started courses to advise of what sessions they have remaining and options they will have once we resume
Yes you will be able to access the L1 online modules by visiting the FA Learning site from 6th April 2020
The FA are currently reviewing expiry dates and will update accordingly
Throughout this period we will continue to follow Government advice and will offer regular updates
The deadline for Charter Standard Health Check has been pushed back to 31st May 2020
