Introducing Ashley March, our Assistant Football Development Officer.

I first joined a football team at the age of 8 years old, and went to see my first game at Stamford Bridge. Since then I have been involved in football in every season in some capacity for 16 years.

I played affiliated grassroots football up until the age of 16, at this point I was having long spells out of playing due to growing pains in my knees. It was at this stage I began my coaching journey at my local club, Brackley Town FC.

At the age of 19 with a FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football and an FA Youth Award Module 1, I left Brackley for a BA (Hons) Degree in Football Studies at Southampton Solent University.

During my time at University, I spent just under three years working as a Saints Foundation coach for Southampton FC, and also completed an internship as a First-Team Performance Analyst for Aldershot Town FC who were playing in Football League 2. During the summers I continued to develop my understanding by attaining the FA Youth Award Module 2, and gaining further experience with team coaching at Brackley Town FC.

After graduating with First Class Honours from Solent, I found myself back at home and looking for work – and I was determined it was going to be in football.

Spells as a schools coach and another community coach role at  a Professional club followed, before I found the opportunity to work for Berks & Bucks FA as a Football Development Administrator. 18 months later from that point, and I have completed two seasons as the U18 Head Coach at Brackley Town FC, completed my UEFA B Licence and have been promoted at BBFA to an Assistant Football Development  Officer, where I lead on Coach Education and support Referee Education.

I am excited as to what the future holds at BBFA and in my new role as Manager of Brackley Town Saints FC, who play at Step 5 in the Hellenic Premier Division, where I am the youngest manager at 24 years old when the 2016/17 season starts.
