Alastair Kay

Introducing our Football Services Manager, Alastair Kay

I have been involved in football at a professional level since 2007, but have followed the game my whole life.  Unfortunately my talent does not match my enthusiasm and passion, and having been born with two left feet and a lack of general coordination I was forced to look at alternative routes into the game.  I grew up in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire but fell into a career in football by sheer luck when I was working overseas.  A temporary contract with a bank in the Cayman Islands put me in touch with their local FA President who offered me the opportunity to volunteer at the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Cayman Islands and Bermuda.  Despite a 3-1 loss, I was hooked and soon moved over to the Cayman FA full time as an administrator.  This proved a great education for me, and I was fortunate enough to work on several major development projects with FIFA and The FA and tried my hand at everything from refereeing to live television commentary.

I returned to England in 2014 to study for an MBA in International Sport Management and joined the Berks and Bucks FA in November 2015.  In addition to leading the Football Services team, I am responsible for overseeing misconduct in the county and implementing the FA’s disciplinary regulations.  As someone who has only just moved (back) to the area, and due to the nature of my role, I am not involved directly with any particular club, but I do try to get out and watch games when possible.

Away from the office, I love traveling and exploring.  I’m a huge walker and if I’m not down at White Hart Lane cheering on Spurs I spend most weekends either wandering around the countryside from country pub to country pub or wandering around museums and art galleries in London and Oxford.
