Regional Disability Competition Recap

On Saturday 4th November 2017, teams from Berks and Bucks FA, Middlesex FA and Surrey FA competed in the First Round of the South East Regional 11v11 Disability Competition at Slough Town’s Arbour Park. The event, organised by Berks & Bucks FA, saw Slough Town PALS, Reading DFC, Woking Wolves and DASH battle it out to win one of the two qualifying spots on offer for the next round.

This is the fourth edition of the South East Regional 11v11 Disability Competition which is organised in a combined effort by each of the South East Regional County FA’s. Five separate First Round events will take place across the region with ten teams in total advancing to two regional Semi-Finals scheduled for early 2018. The finals are planned to take place in May 2018 with only four teams advancing to this stage.

Success on the day went to Reading DFC and Woking Wolves who finished as group winners and group runners up respectively. These teams will now advance to separate semi-finals and can only meet again at the Finals.

Jonathan Coles, Disability Football Development Officer at Berks & Bucks FA, went on to say “It was a great event and the first opportunity for three of these teams to compete in an 11v11 format. All the teams can be proud of their performance and I look forward to the next round. A big thank you to Slough Town for not only hosting the event but also being a late addition, replacing a team that sadly had to withdraw”.
