New Walking Football Session Comes to Milton Keynes

An additional Walking Football is being launched at Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion, Milton Keynes providing an opportunity for individuals to player a slower paced version of the beautiful game.

Walking Football is a new format of football aimed at encouraging more older adults to play football on a regular basis. It comprises of the same rules as standard football, except players are not permitted to run. As a result the game relies less on physical attributes such as; speed, power and stamina, and more on accurate passing, good positional play.

There are so few team sports tailored for older adults, which means missing out on the social benefits that are associated with these. Whether you are a previous footballer looking to rekindle your playing days, or if it is just some fun and enjoyable exercise then this is an activity to come and give a go.

Due to the popularity of Walking Football, there are currently over 25 sessions established across Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Many sessions have taken it upon themselves to purchase their own kits, play friendly matches and take part in tournaments.

For more information on any of the above sessions, or if you are interested in a Walking Football session in your area please email jonathan.wood@berks-bucksfa.com or contact 01235 544898.
