FA Bobby Moore Fund Walking Football Festival

The Berks & Bucks FA are pleased to announce details of a Walking Football festival to raise funds for the Bobby Moore fund supporting Cancer Research UK.

The Bobby Moore Walking Football Festival will take place on Sunday 9th July, and is being delivered by the Berks & Bucks FA in partnership with the Thames Valley Waking Football League and Bisham Abbey. The morning will consist of scheduled fixtures for the Thames Valley Walking Football League, before two friendly competitions in the afternoon in which all families, groups of friends, work colleagues, teams and individuals are encouraged to take part.

There will be a competition for individuals aged 60+, whilst the other competition will be for teams with a cumulative age of 307 (30th July, was when Bobby Moore lifted the World Cup). This essentially means that there is no restriction on age, but the total of the six youngest players must reach 307 (average age 51).

Date: Sunday 9th July

Time: 13:00 – 16:00, 60+ and open aged competition

Venue: Bisham Abbey, Bisham Village, Marlow Rd, Bisham, Marlow SL7 1RR

“Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK was set up by Stephanie Moore MBE, Bobby’s widow, in his memory to fund pioneering, life-saving bowel cancer research.

Since the fund was set up in 1993 mortality rates have fallen 30% and over £23.5 million has been raised for research, but we still have so much more to do.”
