COUNTY REFEREE FITNESS PROGRAMME

Fitness

The Berks and Bucks FA have organized a number of fitness sessions designed to raise the general fitness of referees and to prepare them for the Mandatory Fitness Test for the various levels of refereeing.

From Alf Field, County Fitness Coordinator

Colleagues,

As you are aware I (Alf Field) am running a fitness session at Wycombe on 30/1/05, commencing at 9.00am
When I first put this date down, [see below],  I had an idea that those referees likely to be nominated for contributory line would be invited to attend.

My reason for this is to help them prepare for the test in March. This will
give me 6 weeks to work with them, (if they are serious) so that they can
progress. I felt that previously they have not understood what is required
of them and why they cannot just turn up and hope. I also feel that we
should be encouraging them and doing what we can to help them progress.

It also serves as a timely reminder to what will be expected from them at
the next level. They can no longer just rely on refereeing to get fit. I
know they have been told many times before but theory is one thing, actually
practising it another.

These fitness tests are also very useful for those on Supply Leagues or indeed any League.

It may also be useful for Society fitness coordinators to attend and participate then they can use the information within local Societies
