FAMOA Training days

DEVELOPING PRACTICAL REFEREEING SKILLS AND INCREASING YOUR ENJOYMENT. Regrettably, the 2006 FAMOA Training Days have both been cancelled due to poor attendance response.

The FAMOA Training Days are organised annually by the Football Association in conjunction with the County Football Association and the Referees Association.

The Training Days are aimed and Referees of all ages and standard of refereeing that principally operate at local and County level and are designed to assist you in improving your on-field skills and hence serve to gain more enjoyment out of you hobby – refereeing can be a lonely occupation but you are not alone!

The Training days will have four workshops this year that will vary with location and these are from:

  • Player Mananagement
  • Recognising foul challenges
  • Assistant Refereeing
  • Positioning
  • Fitter or smarter?
  • Managing expectation

In addition, there will be displayed material, the opportunity to participate in a quiz, view videos on the Laws of the game, see our new display stands, obtain the latest FA guidance booklets and even purchase kit for the new season. Most of all, you will have the opportunity to hear from the County Training team, Guest speakers and meet with refereeing colleagues.

Directions to Thatcham Town FC

Thatcham Town FC (post code RG19 4PA) is reached off the A4 east of Thatcham.

From the North / east follow M4 to Junction 12 and take the A4 signposted Newbury / Hungerford, follow the A4 to Thatcham and just before reaching the town centre look for signs for the railway station (left).

Follow the signs to the British Rail station (signposted from two roundabouts on the A4), cross the level crossings, over the river bridge and the football club is on the left.

From the South / West take the A4 towards Newbury / Thatcham / Reading. Pass through Thatcham and just before leaving the town, take a right towards the railway station. From the station, follow the directions above.

Directions to Dr Challoners School, Amersham

Dr Challoners School (Chesham Road) is close to the railway station in Amersham: From the South (A416 / A413) take the A404 up the hill towards Chesham (speed camera half way up), pass under the rail bridge to a mini-roundabout, keep LEFT (right is signposted station) and 300 yards further at the next mini-roundabout bear right. The School is immediately on your left and is clearly signed.

From the north take the A404 through Chesham and follow through towards Amersham. At the top of the hill at first mini-roundabout, stay on A404, at the second go straight across and at the third, which is a double mini-roundabout, bear right and pass a car showroom on your right. Dr Challoners School is just before the next mini-roundabout on your right.
