At the current time, there are no regulations for Soccer Schools to meet and no set levels are required, which means anyone can become a provider. This may mean that unqualified coaches are delivering sessions which may not be insured, which have potential to lead to poor practice. This award sets a level of criteria for Soccer Schools to meet, which will highlight that, the safety and the well-being of the players is paramount.
A recognised Soccer School should specialise in fun and professional coaching sessions, whilst maintaining a safe environment for young people aged 5-16.
Maria Ready, County Welfare Officer at Berks & Bucks FA, backs the accreditation award, and commented “Obtaining the County FA’s Soccer School Accreditation enables you to prove you are providing fully qualified coaches, compliant with the Criminal Record Check process, so that parents and carers can be confident that their children will be playing and developing in a safe and fun environment.”
The Berks & Bucks FA Soccer School Accreditation Award is open to all Soccer Schools who deliver holiday courses, and football services in schools. Any Soccer School that wishes to apply for the award must have Public Liability Insurance in place. The cost of the award for successful applicants is £50 for each year they wish to hold the accreditation.
