Bumper weekend of Coach Development
Last weekend (21st & 22nd January), BBFA ran two Coach Development (CPD) workshops to enable coaches the opportunity to continue to develop and support their players on the pitch.
On Saturday, we hosted “Developing Skilful Players” workshop at Fairfields Sports Hub in Milton Keynes. The workshop was delivered by Vicky Fisher, FA Regional Coach Development Officer, and explored the FA’s approach to developing skill and showcase what practices coaches can use to develop. It also enabled coaches to identify what does a skilful player look like across the FA’s 4 corner model.
On Sunday, we ran a workshop for the BBFA Female Coaches Community at Reading FC. The theme of workshop was “Match Observation” which looked at the ability to identifying and appreciating the value of watching players through a lens to enhance their overall capability. The workshop was delivered by Vicky who was supported by FA Mentors Chris Berry & Jon Simmons and it was fantastic to see 12 female coaches in attendance.
In partnership with Reading FC and Chris, we were able to offer the coaches opportunity to watch the Women’s Super League fixture between Reading and Manchester United straight after the workshop had finished. The game was a closely fought contest with the winning goal for United coming in the 87th minute scored by Rachel Williams.
We would like to thank all the coaches for taking the time out of their weekends to come to both events. It was fantastic for BBFA & Vicky to engage with so many coaches and it highlights the value of ongoing coach development.
