Berks & Bucks FA Partners With GiveToLocal

We've partnered with community sports organisation GiveToLocal to help secure sustainable funding for clubs across the region.

We are delighted to announce our official partnership with innovative community sport organisation GiveToLocal - joining another 12 county FAs across the country.

With COVID-19 having left its mark on grassroots sports and businesses across the UK, the need to support our local communities has never been more important.

By connecting FA Charter Standard clubs and local businesses through its innovative service, GiveToLocal has the power to help both build towards a brighter and more sustainable future.

Steph Clark, Football Communications Officer for Berks & Bucks FA, is confident that GiveToLocal can help clubs recover from the biggest challenge the footballing community has ever faced.

“Now, perhaps more than ever, links with our local communities are vitally important,” said Steph. “GiveToLocal has the ability to link local businesses to teams across the region and they can go on to support and sustain each other. This is a wonderful opportunity for local clubs to strengthen and maintain their ties with the communities they serve whilst raising much needed funds for their teams in the process.”

Since launching in 2019, GiveToLocal has secured the support of a number of high-profile Premier League footballers.

Alongside backing from legendary England forward Les Ferdinand, Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum, Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend and Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson have all thrown their support behind GiveToLocal.

Through GiveToLocal’s user friendly application, donors and sponsors can support their local football club by pledging as little as £3 per month - enabling everyone to play their part.

Individuals then have access to benefits and incentives from local businesses - which are also supporting their local club - to create a sense of shared action and true community spirit.

“We’re still facing a period of genuine uncertainty but we have seen that through hard work and commitment we’re able to deliver football in a safe and positive environment,” added Steph.

“As we move forward, and as football returns, we would always encourage clubs to try and connect with their local communities wherever possible and it is now more important than ever to continue to explore and build these kinds of relationships.”

Colin Stromsoy, Director of Strategic Partnerships at GiveToLocal, is excited by the opportunity to be able to support clubs across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire.

“We’ve had fantastic discussions with Steph and the team at the Berks & Bucks FA and we’re absolutely delighted to have entered into a partnership with them,” said Colin.

“They’re a really forward-thinking county FA and are giving their clubs great support - just when they need it the most. Clubs and communities in their region have had an exceptionally tough time and we want GiveToLocal to have a sustained and positive impact on clubs here as it has elsewhere.”
