Local League team up with the Chairboys

Wycombe Wanderers Official
New partnership for local club and league

Wycombe Wanderers have joined forces with the South Bucks Youth League in a new partnership, designed to support the league’s aims and encourage young local footballers to develop their allegiance to the Chairboys.

The South Bucks Youth League, which is comprised of 20 teams across two divisions at under-18 level, provides an opportunity for Wanderers to reach out to hundreds of young footballers and their parents in its local catchment area, raising awareness of upcoming fixtures and events, whilst supporting grassroots football via a relationship with a long-established league which spans five counties.

Mark Palmer, management consultant at Wycombe Wanderers, said: “One of our aims for the club is to better engage with teenage and young adult football fans, and we’re thrilled to begin a new partnership with the South Bucks Youth League which we hope can help introduce us to a wide network of young footballers and their parents.

“We see a lot of mutual benefit, in terms of the stadium use for their events, meetings and potentially cup finals, and there’s also the chance for us to reach out to young people from further afield than just High Wycombe to encourage them to come along to games and be part of this exciting time that we feel are moving towards.”

John Horton, chairman and secretary of the South Bucks Youth League, said: “As a long-time supporter of the club, I’m extremely proud to see Wycombe Wanderers and the South Bucks Youth League come together for a new partnership which I believe will prove to be extremely beneficial for both parties.

“There are a lot of Wycombe fans that play or coach in the league, but also a lot of supporters of Premier League clubs who we feel could adopt Wycombe as their second team, and also learn a lot from how the Wanderers players and staff conduct themselves in terms of discipline, fitness, nutrition, teamwork and tactical awareness.

“We look forward to getting started and hopefully bringing more and more of our players, coaches and parents down to Adams Park to see the team in action throughout the coming weeks and months.”
