Girls Football Festival Slough

170 girls take part in Slough Football Festival

On Wednesday 4 July 2018 around 170 girls from schools across Slough took part in the Slough Girls Football Festival at Arbour Park.

The event which builds on previous FA Girls Football Festivals in association with Continental Tyres was led by the Active Slough team with support from the BBFA, local Slough Wildcat Centres, Slough Town FC, the Slough LFP, Slough Schools Sports Partnership, Decathlon and the Reading Community Trust.

The event was a showcase for the increasing female football participation within Slough and showed the appetite to continue to grow the female game within the area.

The morning featured a Year 3/4 & Year 5/6 tournament whilst the afternoon consisted of a Year 7/8 & Year 9/10 tournament. Alongside the tournament both the morning and afternoon matches were supplemented by skills sessions, Futsal tasters, Blind Football tasters, Inflatables, Arts and Crafts and Face Painting.

“It’s fantastic to see so many young girls enthused about playing football in Slough. We hope to continue to increase opportunities in Slough for girls to participate not just in football, but Sport in general” - Lead organiser Gavin James, Active Slough.
