U12 and U13 Minor Cup Finals Previews

This weekend marks the end of the County Cup Finals for now, the U16 Minor Cup and Senior Cup Final are still to be scheduled.

U12 Minor Cup, Sunday 7th May, Flackwell Heath FC, 11:00KO
The U12's get the action under way at Flackwell Heath. This year sees Tattenhoe Youth Tigers play Eldon Celtic Lions. Tattenhoe Youth Tigers have had an exceptional season in the Milton Keynes District Development League winning Division 1 with a record of 17 wins and 1 loss from their 18 matches. They will be hoping captain and top scorer Charlie Theakston can fire them to glory.

Eldon Celtic have scored 39 goals in total in their 6 matches in the competition. In Division 1 of the East Berks Football Alliance Eldon Celtic were second in the table. Eldon Celtic are no strangers to County Cup Finals and will be looking to add this piece of silverware to the club. This is set to be a great final between two evenly matches teams in our youngest County Cup Final.

U13 Minor Cup, Sunday 7th May, Flackwell Heath FC, 15:00KO
Ascot United Youth face Wendover Juniors in the second final of the day. Last season both teams made the final of the U12 Minor Cup with Ascot winning that day 4-0, again the final was played at Flackwell Heath. This underlines how strong these teams are. Ascot have won 6 matches to get to the final scoring 46 goals in the process

Wendover manager, Jon Brainch knows it will be a tough test and no matter the result his team have had a great final; Our U13s team is a very close-knit group – many of the boys have been together since the U7s. This season has been our most successful yet, and whatever the result, today will mark the end of a fantastic league and cup season for the boys. Having made the final last season, and finished runners up to a superb Ascot side, we face the same opponents again! Hopefully we can go one better this year, but regardless of the result, this has been a memorable season with the highlights being a narrow escape in the Quarter Final versus Tattenhoe after being 3:0 down at half time, and a high-quality semi-final against an excellent Wing side. We also won the ESF Butlins Tournament last weekend with our reward being a trip to the national finals at St George’s Park in July - an exciting season all round! We are so proud of our boys and their effort, commitment, and above all some outstanding quality football.

We would also like to thank the Berks and Bucks FA for their organising of the tournament, and also say thank you to Flackwell Heath for hosting the final. We are looking forward to a great occasion and a hopefully a great game too.

We wish all teams the very best of luck and would like to thank Flackwell Heath for hosting both finals. Entry for both finals is free with a donation to Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
