Following the launch of the Berks & Bucks FA Inclusion Player Ambassador Programme, we are pleased to announce the application window for the Player Ambassador role is now open.
Berks and Bucks Football Association launched a brand new grassroots ambassador project for the Milton Keynes area, supported by anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out and MK Dons, at Stadium MK on 22nd February. The BBFA Inclusion Player Ambassador programme aims to promote inclusion and reduce discrimination in grassroots football.
We are looking for a range of individuals participating in various areas of football – male, female, youth and disability to take on these ambassador roles. As part of the role you will be invited to an Induction morning on Saturday 22nd April, before being presented at the MK Dons final home game that afternoon.
Those selected as BBFA Player Ambassadors will; support us in raising awareness in educating local clubs and individuals on inclusion, actively promote local and national campaigns in their club, and attend an annual Player Ambassador meeting to provide feedback and ideas for future work.
The Player Ambassador scheme was inspired by Kick It Out’s national ‘Next 20’ Ambassador programme, which sees 20 players from across the Premier League, English Football League and Women’s Super League promote the organisation’s key messages of equality and inclusion within their club’s and local areas.
Paul Mortimer, Kick It Out Professional Players Engagement Manager, was enthusiastic about the impact the BBFA Player Ambassador programme could have; “If those ambassadors can inspire the players in their side to challenge discrimination, that would be a great start for the pilot,” he said. “It’s a ripple effect – if you have 10 ambassadors at 10 clubs that may have four or five teams each, the message spreads to officials, parents and the friends of those players, and eventually, everyone involved in grassroots football across the region.”
