Berks & Bucks FA are committed to Equality within Football. As part of this commitment we have been awarded the Foundation level of the Equality Standard accreditation. The standard aims to demonstrate how our organisation widens access and reduces inequalities in Football. We have also recently signed up to the Charter For Action.

Equality Standard

The Equality Standard is divided in to 4 levels, Foundation, Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced. The first level looks at developing the organisation. Evidence is collected against our commitment to equality, our policies and how they are communicated to staff and customers and our awareness of our current profile in terms of equality.

Reporting the Discrimination  

We would also like to promote the recently produced document providing the information to any individual who has witnesses any incidents of discrimination in football across the Berks & Bucks area. The document highlights the information we request when a report is made, what happens next and frequently asked questions. The aim is to ensure that individuals feel comfortable reporting discriminative incidents, enabling us to tackle and stamp out this type of behaviour across the county. Charter For Action

The Charter is comprised of four principles and aims to make sport a welcoming environment for LGB&T people and to help stamp out on homophobia and transphobia in sport.

The Charter’s four points comprise of:

  1. Everyone should be able to participate in and enjoy sport – whoever they are and whatever their background.
  2. Sport is about fairness, equality, respect and dignity. Sport teaches individuals how to strive and succeed, how to cope with success and disappointment, and brings people together with a common goal.
  3. A commitment to making these values a reality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and working together, and individually, to rid sport of homophobia and transphobia.
  4. Make sport a welcome place for everyone – for those participating in sport, those attending sporting events and for those working out volunteering in sports at any level – and working with these groups to ensure they have a voice, and to challenge unacceptable behaviour.
