Local Football Facility Plans

What do the plans say for your local authority?

Planning for the future

Berks & Bucks FA have worked in partnership with consultants Knight, Kavanagh and Page (KKP) to deliver a 10-year priority plan for facility investment into local football for each local authority.

As the nation’s most popular team sport, football has the power to contribute positively to vital social outcomes and health priorities. To maximise this power, facilities must be welcoming environments to attract first-time users and repeat visits, whether for informal, recreational or competitive football.

Research clearly and continually demonstrates that selecting the right location of high-quality football facilities can have a positive impact on participation and enjoyment. It is acknowledged that in many areas the number and/or quality of facilities does not exist in to support this positive impact.

The Football Association, Premier League and The Government (via Sport England) is committed to making a major investment in local football facilities over the next 10 years. To inform and direct this investment, a Local Football Facility Plan (LFFP) for each local authority in England is being produced.

These plans will aim to;

• Improve grass pitches
• Develop Changing rooms / pavilions
• Create new 3G artificial turf pitches
• Introduce Small sided facilities

Each LFFP within the Berks & Bucks area has been produced in collaboration with local stakeholders who provided crucial local knowledge and input towards football provision and the demand for specific facility developments. These LFFPs can be found at the bottom of this page.

Whilst the LFFPs are not a guarantee of funding or successful applications, the plans will be used to ensure the highest priority areas are targeted in order to deliver the identified projects when investment is available.

We expect that 90% of Football Foundation funding will be used to deliver projects highlighted within the plans. Each project must still follow an application process to show how it will deliver key participation outcomes, become a quality & sustainable facility and demonstrate suitable match-funding.

When priority projects are in positions to proceed, pre-application support will be provided by the Football Foundation and Berks & Bucks FA. If you believe you are in a position to proceed or would like further information please contact us on the details provided on this page.
