Youth Goal Sizes

These guidance notes have been considered by The FA's Pitches and Facilities, Football Development, Referees and the Sanction and Registrations Committees and were approved by The FA Council.

We regularly receive enquiries regarding the size of goal posts, shown below are the sizes recommended by the FA.

Age grouping		Suggested Size of Goal posts (Height x width)
Mini-Soccer U7-U10		6 ft x 12 ft
Youth U11-U14		7 ft x 21 ft
Youth U15-U18 & Senior ages		8 ft x 24 ft

These guidance notes have been considered by The FA's Pitches and Facilities, Football Development, Referees and the Sanction and Registrations Committees and were approved by The FA Council. The notes are included in The FA Handbook for Season 2003/2004, page 213 (Laws of the Game). Whilst they are not enforceable, the FA receives numerous enquiries from Leagues and Clubs seeking information on pitch dimensions and goalpost sizes for youth football, which has led to these notes for guidance purposes.
