Girls football in Bucks

Buckinghamshire now hosts a very strong girls league, which provides quality football for girls aged 8 to 16 years.

After numerous discussions within the North of the county both the MK Junior 7’s and Border Counties League both decided to fully support the Bucks Girls Football League to provide football for girls within Milton Keynes, rather than setting up individual leagues and potentially fragmenting girls football in the area. So now this season 08 /09 sees 78 teams entered into the BGFL, ideally the league are working to try and create a 3 division system to reduce travelling times, both the U12 & U14 divisions have managed to move into three geographically split divisions.  The U10’s play a friendly but structured league format, still supporting clubs to develop U10 sections. Whilst the U16 section has 14 teams split North & South to reduce travel times.

The league is happy to host teams from bordering counties – Middlesex and Bedfordshire while these counties strengthen their own girls league.
The league has good links with both the MK Dons Centre of Excellence and the Academies for players age 16+ based in the North of the County.

The BGFL also run a Coaches association, to support coaches within the girls game, If you would like more information on the Bucks Girls Football League please have a look at our website www.bucksgirlsfootball.com
