The Berks & Bucks FA held their first Club Conference on Saturday 7thJuly 2007. The purpose was to provide accessible training to club coaches and volunteers working in grassroots football.
Club Conference
Over 50 people attended the first Club Conference held in Berks & Bucks at St. Georges School, Ascot.
Sir Trevor Brooking gave the key note speech as the conference opener, and also presented Charter Standard Awards to various winners.
The Conference consisted of a series of practical workshops on a number of areas within football.
Coaching: Two practical coaching workshops One examined how to be an effective coach and how to get the best from your players. The second aimed at Level 1 coaches and provided a fresh approach to coaching skills and games.
Sport Science: This focused on how sport psychology and physiology could be used to support performance at all levels. Particular focus was on pre-season training.
Nutrition: A presentation by CBA Sports Nutrition on football specific nutrition focussing on Fuelling, Refuelling, Repairing, Recovery and Hydrating. Physical assessments were also available throughout the day.
Club Welfare: This is the new 3 hour training workshop from The FA that supports Club Welfare Officers (formerly Child Protection Officers). From 2008/9 season all clubs offering U18 football will need to have a club welfare officer.
