FA Club Welfare Officer & Safeguarding Children workshops
Safeguarding Children
Tuesday, 17 June 2008.
From season 2008/2009 all clubs with teams that play at a youth/minor level (U18 down to U7) must have an appointed Club Welfare Officer who must have attended a both a Safeguarding Children Workshop (previously called the Child Protection Workshop). Those attending MUST have previously attended the Safeguarding Children [formerly called Child Protection] Training Seminar. Details of both workshops are provided below:
The workshops are 3 hours long and the feed back from those who have attended so far has been very positive. Particular areas covered in the workshops include:
- Good Practice, Poor Practice and how poor practice can lead to abuse,
- The different types of abuse,
- How to deal with instances of abuse
- Disclosures -do's and don'ts,
- Organizations involved in Child Protection
- And the way forward for your club
The program delivery is interactive and encourages participants to reflect on their own practice and to contribute positively to group discussions and activities.
