Taking place on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th August 2006 at Mandeville School, Stoke Mandeville.

Saturday 19th August

9.30-12.30. Workshop 1: What is Quality Coaching (SCuk). (Please see description here).

9.30-12.30. Workshop 2: Introduction to Multi-skills (SCuk). (Please see description here).

12.30-1.00. Workshop 3: Introduction to Charter Standard & Small Grants Schemes. Information for clubs interested in gaining Charter Standard status and those clubs interested in securing funding for developing their club.

1.15-4.15. Workshop 4: Coaching Clinic for Level 1 Coaches.
This workshop is for coaches who have completed their Level 1 course and would either like to experience what the Level 2 course is like, or would like some fresh ideas to develop their coaching further.

1.15-4.15. Workshop 5: Coaching Clinic for Level 2/3 Coaches.
This workshop is for Level 2 coaches who are interested in developing their coaching further and may be interested in taking the Level 3. It is also for Level 3 coaches wanting some new ideas for their coaching and to refresh on some of the content featured on the Level 3 course.

Prices

  • Full Day: £10 for coaches working within a Charter Standard Club. £15 other.
  • Half Day: £5 for coaches working within a Charter Standard Club. £10 other.

What is Quality Coaching - Workshop?

Facilitators: sports coach UK South East Regional Team: Scott Grace (CDO), Becky Karver (CDO), Sam Abrey (CDO) and Paul Bickerton (CDO).

Brief: High-quality coaching produces participants with the skills, understanding, desire and commitment to continue to improve and achieve in sporting activity in line with their abilities. This workshop will explore what a quality coach is, and how you can help develop the next generation of quality coaches:

Learning Outcomes and areas of delivery:

• To assist the group in recognising Quality Coaching
• To gain an understanding of the Coaching Model
• To explain the stages of learning
• To demonstrate the ability to apply some key aspects of Coaching Craft Knowledge
• How will the UKCC help develop quality coaches

Brochure Description

High-quality coaching produces participants with the skills, understanding, desire and commitment to continue to improve and achieve in sporting activity in line with their abilities. This workshop will explore and recognise what a quality coach is by applying some key aspects of coaching craft knowledge, stages of learning and the Coaching Model. This interactive workshop will help you understand your role in developing the next generation of quality coaches. .

It is anticipated that workshops will need to cater for up to 25 delegates. The specific numbers of delegates and the organisation they represent will ideally be provided in advance of the date of delivery. However, in the planning the Workshop, consideration will be given to ensuring the work areas are relevant to FA Level 1 – 3 Coaches. Finally, workshops should be interactive, related to working practice and give consideration to principles of equity and inclusion.

Time/Dates:

The workshop should be up to three hours in duration. Two workshops will be delivered simultaneously. Both workshops are scheduled for Saturday AM (19th August 2006)

Multi Skills Ideas Session

Facilitators:

Sports coach UK South East Regional Team. Scott Grace (CDO), Becky Karver (CDO), Sam Abrey (CDO) and Paul Bickerton (CDO).

Brief: The term Multi-Skills has become a widely use term and is regards as essential in the overall development of a player. So what does Multi-Skills mean? Multi-Skills is the term given to the generic sports skills which under pin all sports. (E.g. ABC’s, Running, Jumping, Throwing). Learning and practicing these skills is essential in a player’s development especially in the early years. This practical based explores what is meant by Multi-Skills and how to develop Multi Skills through familiar and new fun games and skills.

Learning Outcomes and areas of delivery:

  • To understand the Basic principles of Multi-Skills
  • Explore how to develop Multi-Skills through a series of games and skill exercises
  • Identify key coaching points for each Multi-Skills game or skill
  • Explore how you can integrate these games in to your coaching
  • Identify future training and support with regards to Multi-Skills and LTAD

Time/Dates:
