SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - SEASON 2008/2009

FINAL to be played on Sunday 5th April 2009, Kick Off 10.30am at Aylesbury Vale FC(by kind permission)

                Fox & Hounds(Reading)  4 v 0 Swans(Taplow)

                Attendance 173 -

Fox & Hounds (Reading) of the Reading & District Sunday League won this season's Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Cup after they dominated the match against Swans (Taplow) from the Observer Industrial League watched by a healthy crowd of 153 at Aylesbury Vale FC.  Fox & Hounds started strongly and nearly scored after ten minutes when Stuart Davis crossed to Michael Barrett whose shot was well saved. Fox & Hounds went ahead after 22 minutes when a corner by Matthew Collins was headed home neatly by Michael Barrett. Fox & Hounds soon went further ahead after 41 minutes when Stuart Davis picked up the ball 35 yards out and drove and unstoppable shot passed Jamie Forgan in the Swans (Taplow) goal.  Swans (Taplow) tried to get back into the match but were restricted to long range shots which were easily dealt with by Micheal Knight in the Fox & Hounds goal. Fox & Hounds almost killed the match on half time, when there was a mix-up in the Swans defence and Matthew Collins drove the ball home.

Swans (Taplow) came out strongly at the start of the second and had a chance to get back into the match when Robert Small was brought down in the area. Chris Hatfield stepped up to take the kick, and although it was well placed, it did not have enough power to be Knight in the Fox & Hounds goal.

The game continued with chances for both teams, and Fox & Hounds settled things in the 89th minute when Jamal Forde-Small ran onto a through ball and drove the ball past Forgan.

The Cup and individual medals were presented to Fox & Hounds(Reading) by Chairman and Life member Jim Atkins of the Berks & Bucks Football Association.
