Match reports for all Minor Berks and Bucks FA Cup Finals : -
COUNTY YOUTH UNDER 18 CUP COMPETITION
BRACKNELL TOWN 0 v 1 CHESHAM UNITED AFC
The Final of this season's competition was played on the ground of the Abingdon United Football Club in front of a small, but average crowd for this competition. With both Club's having appeared in previous seasons Finals, the Bracknell Town Club were looking to register their name on the trophy for the very first time and Chesham United adding to their solitary occasion.
The Chesham side soon settled into their stride and were looking the more confident of the two teams in the opening exchanges but once the Bracknell team had overcome their nerves the contest was very even and both sides had chances to open the scoring but poor finishing and good goalkeeping denying them on several occasions with the match remaining goalless at the half time interval. The second half of the match continued in the same manner as the first half and with the match destined for extra time. With less than a minute of the match remaining Chesham were awarded a corner and from the resultant corner the unlucky Bracknell Town player turned the ball into his own net. The Final whistle then went leaving Chesham United AFC victorious as winners of the trophy for the second time in the Club’s history.
It is always hard to lose a County Cup Final, but for these players the happiness, jubilation, sadness and dejection were evident for all in attendance to see.
