BBFA Coaches Network

Your Coach Development Programme

Learning and development is an active, continuous process.

It's a journey that never ends. And one that is shaped by experiences and learning opportunities gathered anywhere, anytime.

Following on from the success over the last 12 months of the Online Coaching Programme, we have launched the BBFA Coaches Network our new Coach Development Programme (CDP).

The BBFA Coaches Network provides opportunities for coaches to access a variety of topics in both a virtual and face-to-face setting with workshops and sessions being delivered by The FA Regional Coach Development Team and our much-valued workforce of local deliverers.

After attending sessions and workshops you will also have access to via our Community Group to resources including sessions plans and to also network with us a County FA and other coaches from across the region giving you the opportunity to share best practices and ideas.

What's included?

Becoming a member of the BBFA Coaches Network is easy, and, by joining, you'll receive access to 5 face-to-face coaching sessions at a venue near you at no additional cost, as well as a host of other benefits, including:

BBFA Coaches Network Membership Includes:

  • A minimum of 5 local face-to-face workshops at a venue local to you throughout the season
  • A variety of Topics including Games based Coaching, Fundamental Workshop & Introduction to Goalkeeping workshops
  • Exclusive access to Community Group to access resources and session plans
  • Opportunities to network with other local coaches in the County
  • All workshops will be FA approved unless stated, with Development Hours added to your FAN record
  • Exclusive access to the 2021 Bitesize Coaches Conference with Pete Sturgess & Emmerson Boyce

There are two memberships options available, one for individual coaches and one for clubs, more details are below.


Individual Membership


Membership for the season is £35 per person. With CDP sessions for non-members priced at £15 each, becoming a BBFA Coaches Network member represents a saving of £40 on 5 face-to-face sessions, 
over the course of the season.

We also have a package for Berks & Bucks FA clubs wishing to enrol their coaches at discounted rates.

Free Virtual Session Programme


We'll be hosting a minimum of five virtual CDP sessions held on line via Microsoft Teams meaning they are access to coaches right across our region. The virtual sessions are free to attend and welcome any coaches from across the County regardless of whether they have a coaching qualification or are a member of the BBFA Coaches Network. 

The online session are great tasters events for those thinking about signing up to the network, and also act as the perfect precursor to the face-to-face session of the same name, where attendees can take what they learnt in the online event and see it in practice on the pitch!

Content: This online workshop is perfect for any coach/manager of any team. The workshop will provide hints and tips for coaches & managers to help planning for matchday and matchday itself. Hosted by Mitch Woodward, the session will look at ways to ensure equal playing time for children, effective “team talks” for all ages, engaging with players and/or parents and more. Upon completion of the workshop, 1.5 hours of Coach Development will be added to your FAN profile.

Content:        What do your games look like? The Creative Games webinar provides a chance to look at how creative game design can provide players with challenge, competition and opportunities to problem solve. It will also show you how delivering activities that are as close to 'the game' as possible can have a huge amount of benefit.

In this workshop, we will explore the benefits that this can create in both training sessions and on matchdays. You will see examples of training sessions to support the development of players and to take back to your coaching environments to try and implement.

Content: This event will take a look into how we can help develop skillful behaviour within our players, what it looks like across the 4 corners, what practices might help and how we can shape the practice to encourage more exploration of skilful solutions.

The workshop will showcase a number of practices for you to consider. It will highlight how we can apply a range of constraints that will present new problems for our players to overcome, it will ask you to observe and consider how the 4 corners interconnect and influence how players adapt to new situations.

The areas are split into four, North, South, East & West with the same workshops being delivered in each area meaning you will not have to travel far to attend.

After attending each workshop (online or face-to-face) your FAN record will be updated with Development Hours based on the length of the workshop attended.
