Sam Wheeler

Sam joined the Berks & Bucks FA in November 2017 as a Football Development Officer. To find out a bit more about Sam, read on below:

I have always been very passionate about Sport and in particular Football. My enjoyment for sports led me to study Sports Development and PE at Leeds University and explore a career within the sports field. Post-graduation I took my first full-time role within Sport at South Oxfordshire District Council working to increase participation and activity across the district.

From South Oxfordshire I moved up to Leicester to work at De Montfort University where I was responsible for Club Development with the student sports teams (in sports including Football, Rugby, Korfball, Swimming and Dodgeball), mentoring talented Sports Scholars and managing Professional Sports Partnerships with Leicester City FC and Leicester Tigers RC. During my time in Leicester I was lucky enough to witness the once in a lifetime event of Leicester City winning the Premier League title in 2015/16.

Away from work I have always been an enthusiastic footballer, starting when I was 4 and like a true journey man striker I have continued to play moving across districts and regions in search of 90 minutes.

My passion for football led to me undertaking my FAL1, FAL2, FA Futsal L1 and Coaching Disabled Footballers.

Within my role at Berks & Bucks FA I will be undertaking development in the South and East regions and look forward to working with the rest of the Berks & Bucks staff to provide positive football experiences and opportunities.
