Introducing Matt Pill, Football Services

I got into football at around 10 years old and have played ever since, along with coaching at my local club for around 5 years now. My experience of grassroots football has been fairly positive, progressing through youth sides to adult football with a great group of mates. We played a lot during and after school including the awful game ‘fouling football’, this practice somehow meant we ended up reasonable players.

One of my biggest achievements in football was playing in the rep side alongside Matt Mills, who went on to Southampton, Man City, Reading etc . Our football careers quickly went in opposite directions! In 2003, at 17 years old football took a back seat as I concentrated on rifle shooting. In 2006 I was selected for the GB squad funded by UK Sport.

I made the decision to go to University to study Sport, Coaching and Physical Education in 2008. A couple of years after University and a brief spell as a Community Coach at Oxford United I found myself at Berks & Bucks FA. I enjoy my role at BBFA and am keen to help clubs develop and support volunteers. If you need any support with your club please get in touch:
