Minor and Youth Cup summaries including match reports for the finals

Youth Under 18 Cup Competition

Buckingham Town FC                 1-2          Chalfont St Peter AFC

The Final of this season's competition was played on the ground of Didcot Town Football Club in bright sunshine and in front of an above average crowd, with the ground being in excellent condition.

Chalfont St Peter AFC were the first side to settle down and scored an early goal and continued to build on their early advantage by scoring a second goal midway during the first half.  The Buckingham Town team took time to get into their stride and scored on the stroke of half time.  The second half of the game was very tight with both sides having numerous chances to increase their score, but failing to do so, to leave Chalfont St Peter AFC winners of the competition by two goals to one.

Minor Under 16 Cup Competition

Bedgrove Dynamos                 1-2       Penn & Tylers Green Juniors FC

This particular Final was played on the ground of Didcot Town Football Club, with the ground again being in an excellent condition for both teams to play on.  The crowd was very large and enjoyed the warm weather of the afternoon.

The Final was the most entertaining and exciting of all this season's Youth and Minor Cup Competitions.  The match was a very evenly fought contest throughout with neither side being able to get the upper hand.  Both sides created numerous chances but at half time the match remained goalless.  Into the second half it was Bedgrove Dynamos who scored first only for the Penn & Tylers Green Juniors to equalise shortly afterwards.  The game was very evenly balanced and extra time looking a real prospect, saw Penn & Tylers Green Juniors score on the stroke of full time to emerge as winners of the competition by two goals to one.

Both of these teams are to be congratulated on the display of football they provided for all to watch and were a credit to their respective Clubs.

Kennington Boys FC           1-4 AET                  Marlow Youth FC

The Final was one which for its original date fell foul of the torrential rain on the morning of the match and had to be rescheduled at the same venue of Abingdon Town Football Club on May 2nd, with the new date having an impact on the crowd, which was overwhelmingly large.

The match was an evenly fought contest throughout with both teams having opportunities to open their account.  It was not until midway through the second half of the match when the first goal arrived, this going to Marlow Youth.  Immediately from the restart Kennington Boys responding by equalising to let the match go to extra time.  In extra time the Marlow Youth side got stronger and edged their way in front to eventually win the tie by four goals to one.

Minor Under 13 Cup Competition

California FC                 1-2          St Edmunds Boys FC

The First Final of this new Cup Competition was also one that had to be rescheduled, with both teams arriving at the ground only to see the morning rain flooding the pitch making it impossible to play on.  The Final was eventually played on May 2nd on the ground of Abingdon Town Football Club, who had worked hard on the ground after the torrential rain the previous night to ensure that the match would take place.

The match was an excellent game of football with California looking the stronger of the two teams in the opening exchanges.  California took the game to St Edmunds but failed to make the most of the opportunities that they had created.  It was not until the second half when the opening goal of the match came, this being scored by St Edmunds.  Although California equalised, St Edmunds went on to score a second goal to win the match and emerge as the first winners of the Minor Under 13 Cup.

Both sets of players are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship and conduct shown to each other and the match officials, both being a credit to the competition and their respective Clubs.

Minor Under 12 Cup Competition
Dynamos JFC                 1-0          Wokingham Town FC

The venue for the First Final of this new Cup Competition was Abingdon Town Football Club. Despite the wet morning a good size crowd turned up to support their teams.  The latter stages of the match were played in heavy rain with both sets of players still applying themselves to the task at hand.

The match started very evenly as a contest with both teams cancelling each other out by playing some very skilful football and a neat and tidy passing game was being displayed by both sides.  Wokingham Town had several chances to open the scoring but failed to make the most of their opportunities.  It was Dynamos JFC who took the lead with a well taken gaol late into the second half and went on to become the first winner of this trophy by this single goal.
