Fast and furious stuff at North Greenford United FC last night as the Under 16s recorded a 2-1 win over Middlesex to regain The Cyril Butler Memorial Trophy.
Berks & Bucks were in the ascendancy from the kick-off and James Roberts (Aylesbury FC) put us ahead on 3 minutes, chasing down a back pass and winning the challenge with the Middlesex keeper to force the ball home. Despite further pressure, with Roberts in fine form, Middlesex equalised after 12 minutes from a counter-attack the full length of the field. Berks & Bucks regained the lead just after the half hour mark. Ollie Hogg (Aylesbury) lifted a super pass over the home defence and Roberts' pace took him clear to finish with a neat lob over the advancing keeper.
The second half was all action with both sides intent on attack. Middlesex had one decent prolonged spell of pressure, but their keeper prevented the visitors extending the lead on several occasions.
The game was played in an excellent spirit and was a credit to both sets of players, management and the Counties.
Mrs. Ruby Butler presented the trophy and was accompanied by son, Brian, with his wife and daughter
